Mariel’s practice focuses on matters involving federal natural resources and environmental law. She has 20 years’ experience advising federal agencies and nonprofits on issues pertaining to federal Indian law, the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Marine Mammals Protection Act (MMPA), Magnuson-Stevens Act, and the National Wildlife Refuge System Administration Act. 

Mariel has previously served as an Attorney-Advisor for the U.S. Department of Interior, Pacific Senior Counsel for Oceana, and as a Senior Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oregon.
